I believe that the therapy process is about learning, growing and deepening into oneself,
with life as our catalyst.

Professional Information

I am a clinical Social Worker, psychotherapist, and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I began my Social Work career at Gryphon Place, a Crisis Intervention Center, and earned my Masters degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University in 1986. The following seven years were spent at Allegan Community Mental Health Services, providing individual & group therapy for children and their families, and I was a member of the Divorce Adjustment Team. In 1992, I joined the clinical staff at West Side Family Mental Health Practice, transitioning into my own private practice in 1994.

Presently, I work with adults, couples, and families, providing holistic care that focuses on the mind, body, and spirit of each individual. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, grief, post-traumatic stress, sexual orientation, eating disorders, and life transitions. I also offer groups and meditative weekend retreats to support and deepen the therapeutic process.

I have also been an adjunct professor in the WMU Graduate Social Work Program, as well as in the Integrative Holistic Health and Wellness Program, teaching "Holism and Spirituality." In addition to private practice and teaching, I co-lead "Women in Nature" Groups through the Kalamazoo Nature Center, helping women explore their own nature through interacting with the natural world.

I am able to take most insurances including BCBS (PPO), Aetna, Priority Health and MESSA. Insurance plans change and vary, please contact your insurance company for eligibility, deductibles, co-pays and pre-certification information.
